February 16, 2024

Skyler hosted a local high school sophomore student, Copper, and his teacher, Mr. Pulliam, for a morning workshop designed to help prepare Copper for his upcoming Governor’s Honors Program interview. This included a tour of our lab, a research presentation, a mock interview, and several experimental demonstrations. Best of luck, Copper!

Skyler delivered a seminar at his Alma Mater, University of North Georgia, discussing his PhD research and graduate school experiences, nice work!

June 5, 2023

The Newton group hosted a visiting undergraduate, Dat Dam, from Gettysburg College as part of UGA chemistry department’s SURO program (co-lead by Chris Newton). Supervised by Skyler, Dat spent the summer in the lab learning about our research, graduate school, and lots of lab technique!

The Newton group pitched in to help prepare meal packages with the foundation, Feed My Starving Children. What a great way to support such an important cause!

Under the guidance of our fearless leader, Audrey, the group spent the day helping run the chemistry component of the most recent UGA Science Olympiad event.

Spearheaded by our undergraduate, Audrey, the Newton group lends a hand in running the Chemistry component of the UGA Science Olympiad event, where high school students from all across Georgia compete to show off their science skills!

As part of our inaugural outreach event, we were fortunate enough to host a lively and enthusiastic group of students from Clarke Central High School for a day of lab demonstrations. We look forward to further collaborations with our local schools!
